OFAC issues new license to NIS! Deadline for negotiations extended, here's until when
US Treasury Department's OFAC (Office for Foreign Assets Control) has issued a new license to NIS (Petroleum Industry of Serbia), allowing for negotiations on the sale of the Russian stake in the company to continue until March 24.
At the same time, OFAC has not authorized NIS, which is under US sanctions, to operate during this period, the daily Politika is reporting.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said earlier on Wednesday that he has not yet seen a solution for NIS that a Russian website was reporting about (citing MOL as a potential buyer) which would satisfy both the Russian and Serbian sides, and stressed that Serbia's problem will not be solved by the Russian side being given an extension for negotiations, and that this problem must be resolved quickly because Serbia is "running out of time" when it comes to oil supplies.
Politika writes that Vucic said there are talks that indicate that something may happen, but that "nothing has happened yet that we would be happy about."
