President Vucic announces that Serbian water polo players who won European gold will receive money rewards
President Aleksandar Vucic said that today the Government will make a decision on giving money awards for Serbian water polo players who on Sunday won the European Championship.
Vucic also said that immediately after Serbia's victory in the final against Hungary, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban was the first to congratulate him and that they agreed to soon meet again.
Vucic reminded that he will receive the gold-winning water polo players at the Serbian Presidency in Belgrade today, and added that their achievement brought him "great joy".
"It's my job to congratulate them, that's what presidential and state protocols dictate, to thank them for the enormous joy they brought to our citizens, our people, and let's see what else we can do. I think the Government is now having a session to (decide) to award them that money. I'm sure that's more important to them than any of my speeches. But they brought great joy. I haven't heard celebrations like that in Belgrade in a long time, in all parts of the city," Vucic told Blic TV.
When asked who messaged whom first after the final - Vucic said that Orban was the first to contact him.
"We agreed to meet again soon, but we as brothers and friends always do it (get in touch) whenever we (Serbia and Hungary) play and I congratulate him, he congratulates me. Well, it's nicer when they (congratulate) us," said President Vucic.
