The general director of Srbijagas, Dusan Bajatovic, said today that the contract to buy Russian gas, which expires at the end of March, will likely be extended for another six months, and added that the price of gas for households will not be changed, as well as that Serbia has enough gas until the end of the heating season.

Bajatovic said that the long-term gas supply contract that Serbia has with Russia is now getting annexes, but that there are many problems, from European sanctions to payment transactions and issues of that nature, which he said are not so easy to solve.

"What will happen now, our contract starting in March onward, because there are large stocks - practically until October, will be six million cubic meters per day rather than 10 because we cannot fill the Banatski Dvor (storage facility). We will probably get an extension of the long-term contract for another six months," Bajatovic told RTS.

He noted that the price of gas on the stock exchange this morning was 350 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters, while Serbia pays Russia 270 euros.

"As for the price for households, as you know, it has not been changed, nor will it be, it's somewhere around 46-47 dinars. The price for the industry will be around 50 dinars, a little higher than in the previous period, but we bought more on the stock market in order to maintain energy security," said Bajatovic

The Srbijagas general director stressed that even if no additional quantities are imported, Serbia has enough gas to cover this heating season.
