FIRST PHOTOS AND VIDEOS OF EXPLOSION IN BELGRADE: Shrapnel riddles cars, broken glass everywhere

Residents of Pregrevica Street in Zemun, a Belgrade municipality, were disturbed around 3:30 this morning by a powerful detonation. Namely, an unknown perpertaitor threw a hand grenade at the premises of a local fitness club.

According to unofficial information from the scene, the attacker through the device directly through the window into the interior of the gym. The goal was obviously to cause maximum material damage to the premises.

All the protective glass on the building cracked from the force of the impact, while the interior of the club was significantly damaged.

Damaged cars

The detonation was so strong that shrapnel flew out in a ten-meter radius. The epilogue of the attack are four heavily damaged cars that were parked right in front of the entrance to the fitness club. Damage is visible on the vehicles, while the windows on some cars are completely smashed.

"The blast was like in a war. Lucky that the accident happened in the dead of night, so there were no passers-by on the street and nobody in the gym, otherwise there could have been a tragedy," one of the residents of Pregrevica Street told our portal.

Police investigation

Members of the MUP immediately arrived at the scene and blocked this part of Zemun. Footage from security cameras installed on the fitness club, as well as from the surrounding buildings, was taken in order to track down the bomber.

The motive for the attack remains unknown at this time.
