Foreigners moving to Serbia less often, while those already here are leaving in greater numbers
The number of foreigners who immigrated to Serbia during 2024 was 34,155, 17.2% less than the previous year, the Statistical Office of Serbia (RSZ) has announced.
At the same time, the number of foreign nationals who emigrated from Serbia was 17,331, up 12.2%.
Between 2014 and 2024, 167,244 foreigners immigrated to Serbia, while 72,512 emigrated from the country.
A positive migration balance of 94,732 was achieved.
Observed by gender, men accounted for 66.1% of the total number of foreigners who immigrated, while the share of women was 33.9%. Among foreigner nationals who emigrated from the country in the same period, the share of men was 74.2%, and women 25.8%.
In 2024, 34,155 foreign nationals immigrated to Serbia, while 17,331 emigrated the same year. The result of these migrations was a positive migration balance of foreign citizens, which amounted to 16,824 persons.
The largest share of the positive migration balance was achieved in the Belgrade region (8,932 persons), which participated in the total migration balance of foreigners with 53.1%.
At the same time, South and East Serbia regions participated the least (275 persons, 1,6%) in the total migration balance.
