Aleksandar Vucic congratulates Victory Day to Vladimir Putin in message handed to ambassador

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic today handed a letter for President of Russia Vladimir Putin to the Russian ambassador in Belgrade, Aleksandr Botsan Kharchenko. In the letter, Vucic congratulates Victory Day, stating that May 9 remains an eternal symbol of defiance and heroism of our peoples.

"I handed the ambassador a letter for President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, in which I congratulated him on Victory Day, one of the brightest dates in the history of humankind, with the message that May 9 remains an eternal symbol of defiance and heroism of our peoples," Vucic wrote in a post on Instagram, and added:

"I pointed out that it is our duty to preserve the memory of all the victims who lost their lives fighting on the side of justice and what is right, and that Serbia will not allow attempts to revise history. I also stressed that we will forever remember the huge and crucial role that the Red Army had in liberating our country, and Europe."

The president wrote that he also discussed bilateral relations with the Russian ambassador, with special reference to energy.

"I discussed bilateral relations with the ambassador of the Russian Federation, with special reference to cooperation in the field of energy, and we also exchanged opinions on current regional and international issues," Vucic stated.

"In complex geopolitical circumstances and challenges on the European and global markets, a safe and stable supply of energy products, above all gas, is of key importance for Serbia. I said that we will continue to conduct a responsible energy policy in the interest of the citizens and the economy," Vucic concluded.
