Last night's brutal clash between two groups of migrants in the woods near Obrenovac, a suburban municipality of Belgrade, has had a dramatic outcome.

Although the police operation Vihor 3 ("Whirlwind 3") has ended, inspectors and special units are still looking for the armed killer.

Body found wrapped in blanket

The gruesome crime was discovered last night in a large wooded area that is difficult to access. During the search, the officers came across the body of a man who had a gunshot wound to the back, which was wrapped in a blanket. Another migrant with a gunshot wound to his leg, who is now in critical condition, was found at the scene of the crime.

Attacker still at large

The seriously wounded migrant was transported to the hospital, where doctors are still fighting for his life.

"The patient is in such a serious condition that it's not possible to interview him. The investigation is difficult because the only surviving witness cannot provide information about the attackers," a source close to the investigation has told us.

Although Vihor 3 (which entails quickly blockading a wider area of a crime scene) is over, that does not mean that the search has been stopped. The police are still present at key points on the ground, and inspectors are working to identify and locate the perpetrators of the shooting.

The investigation has been taken over by the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, which is treating this incident as serious murder and attempted murder.

Fear in neighborhood: Police guarantee safety

Although the killer is still at large, it is believed that they left the immediate vicinity of the crime scene. There are more police patrols around Obrenovac to ensure the safety of citizens until this bloody drama ends with the arrest of suspects.
