Some of the most sacred Serb relics arrive in Belgrade from Mount Athos
In order to be displayed in an exhibition dedicated to the 850th anniversary of the birth of Saint Sava, the most important Serb relics from the Imperial Lavra of the Hilandar Monastery on Mount Athos, Greece, have arrived in Belgrade.
St. Sava was the first archbishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), which he founded as an autocephalous Eastern Orthodox Church.
The holy relics that are now in the Serbian capital are related to his life and legacy.
SPC Patriarch Pofirije and top state representatives were at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla Airport today, to welcome the plane from Greece with Church and state honors.
The exhibition entitled "Saint Sava" will be organized in the Gallery of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU) and will last from May 15 to July 19.
