Radosavljevic: The goal of the Serb List is to win all 10 seats, large turnout is necessary on June 7
Jovana Radosavljevic, a Serb List candidate in the early elections in Kosovo and Metohija organized to elect deputies in the assembly in Pristina, said today that the goal of the party in the June 7 ballot is to win all ten seats guaranteed for Serbs, although she assessed that constant election cycles make voters apathetic and mistrustful.
Radosavljevic said that the situation for Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija has been difficult and unpredictable for years, which is why a large turnout is necessary in the upcoming vote.
"That is why it's important to have a high turnout in these elections, as well as winning all ten parliamentary seats in the Kosovo parliament, in order to ensure political representation and continue that struggle at an institutional level, because when I mention the problems that the Serb people in Kosovo are facing, there are many of them and there will probably be many more. That's why it is necessary to have people on the political stage who have experience and understanding and knowledge of the institutions, in order to continue that struggle, both in the institutions themselves, and in communication with representatives of the international community," she told RTS this morning.
Speaking about the problems faced by the Serb people, she mentioned the shutting down of healthcare facilities in Srbica and Obilic, as well as the takeover of railway stations in the north of Kosovo and Metohija.
She added that there have also been "very propagandistic moments from representatives of Albanian parties who are campaigning in the north of Kosovo. People are tired, but I think they definitely need to see that participating in the elections, which are scheduled for June 7, is extremely important for the continuity of the coming institutional struggle," said Radosavljevic.
According to her, although most of the talk is about the problems faced by Serbs living in four municipalities in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, Serbs living south of the Ibar are also facing problems.
"The fact is that there are also problems there. They may not be the same, but we share the same sense of lack of security, and of institutional pressure. My going there was intended to show unity and the message that we are not alone in this and that we have to stick together to overcome it all," she explained.
Radosavljevic added that it is difficult to motivate voters when elections are repeated every few months, especially since the perception is that things are getting much worse than before.
"That's why it's important to go to the polls and directly contribute to correcting the representation of Kosovo Serbs in the institutions in that way. We have seen what it means when we are not in the institutions, both at the local level and at the central level, when the decisions that concern us are made on our behalf and what far-reaching consequences this can have on our lives. That is why I repeat that it is important to go to the polls and try to win all ten seats in the Kosovo parliament guaranteed for Serbs," she concluded.
