Serbian town of Kraljevo mourns soldier killed in UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon
Serbia's city of Kraljevo has declared Wednesday the Day of Mourning for Serbian Army Staff Sergeant Milovan Jovanovic, who was killed on June 4, while serving as a member of the United Nations peacekeeping forces in Lebanon.
As is mandated by Serbian public law, all cultural, music stage performances, and sports programs are adapted to a Day of Mourning.
The memorial service for Milovan Jovanovic was this Wednesday morning in the Ribnica Barracks in Kraljevo, and the funeral is taking place at 13:00 CET at the cemetery in the Kovaci settlement.
Staff Sergeant Milovan Jovanovic was killed during his six-month peacekeeping UN stint in southern Lebanon, when the UN base came under attack.
Two other soldiers - from Spain and El Salvador - were also injured during the same incident.
Had he survived his UN peacekeeper deployment in Lebanon, Jovanovic was to resume his duties as a Serbian Army soldier based in his home Jovo Kursula barracks in Kraljevo.
Our soldier's remains were previously escorted from Beirut by many of his comrades, both from Serbia and other countries.
