Deputy PM and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic has said that a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro represents the height of hypocrisy and insults aimed at Serbia.

"The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro represents the height of hypocrisy and insults at the expense of Serbia. Such statements are very rare in international relations, they are made when relations between countries are in a serious crisis, almost on the verge of war. Even Trump's statements about Iran are more measured, than the one from the Montenegrin Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Because their goal is to to make Serbia an enemy, yet Montenegro has no greater friend than Serbia," Dacic said, and added:

"A large number of Serbs live in that country, it is normal that we wish it all the best. Hundreds of thousands of people of Montenegrin origin live in Serbia, and no one has ever had a problem because of that, which is something we are proud of. There have even been (Serbian) presidents and prime ministers originally from Montenegro. For decades now, there has been a hostile narrative towards Serbia in Montenegro. How did Serbia deserve that, what has Serbia done against Montenegro? In whose interest is hostility between Serbia and Montenegro? Certainly not in the interest of the Serbian and Montenegrin people.

It was not Serbia that recognized secession of a part of the Montenegrin state (reference to Montenegro recognizing Kosovo and Metohija), it did not accuse Montenegro of committing genocide against Croats and Muslims, accused Montenegro of interfering in Serbia's internal affairs, even though there has been support for Montenegro for every opposition in Serbia, for decades. Since they are already talking about the so-called annexation of 1918, then why not they ask for so-called Kosovo (to be given back) - return Pec, Decane, Istok and Djakovica, which were part of Montenegro until 1918?"

"Decani, which King Nikola mentioned in the Montenegrin anthem - whose grandson (Serbian King) Aleksandar Karadjordjevic was the greatest Montenegrin in Belgrade. Come to your senses, we have nobody closer than we are to each other. As (author and academician) Matija Beckovic would say, 'when Montenegrins attack Serbs, it's like they're spitting up in the air'," Dacic concluded.
