Vucic: I expect election victory in Novi Sad, more convincing than in Belgrade

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said today that in the next election, he expects a more convincing victory in Novi Sad than in Belgrade.

"It won't be easy in Nis or Kragujevac either, but I expect victories there as well. I expect victories everywhere, because I think the time of truth has come and people understand very well what kind of lies we have been dealing with," Vucic said during a tour of the works to connect the main structure of a bridge under construction over the Danube near Novi Sad, a part of the Fruska Gora Corridor.

Asked by an N1 reporter "why he has been avoiding the center of Novi Sad since the (railway station) canopy collapse", Vucic said that he "goes everywhere freely and has been in the centeral area of Novi Sad at least a dozen times (since)".

The president added that there will be a rally in Novi Sad as well and that he expects it to be one of the largest gatherings in the history of northern Serbia.

He said that the date for that rally will be decided soon.

Vucic also stated that Belgrade was chosen for a rally now (on Vidovdan) because the ruling SNS party wants to present important things for the future.

"We are doing things to be able to present a plan and program, to show competence in solving citizens' problems, to show concern for people, to say what that is, and how we are going to change ourselves, to show what it is that people can expect, what kind of salaries, what kind of pensions, what kind of policy, to say that we are preparing for elections, what the name of our (electoral) list will be," said Vucic.

The president stressed that he is proud of everything he has done so far for his country.

"I worked much harder and much more. I didn't take vacations. I didn't enjoy everything all other people do. Sometimes it would be three days, sometimes two, and sometimes one day, and I never take the weekends off. Saturday and Sunday are always working days for me. I did my best to have this country move forward and I think that to some, not insignificant degree, with the help of the people, I succeeded in that," said Vucic.
