TELEGRAF AT SCENE OF BELGRADE SHOOTING! Attacker arrived at dog shelter in a van and pulled out a GUN

Members of the MUP are conducting an investigation after this morning's dramatic attack in Belaricka Street in Batajnica, a suburban municipality of Belgrade.

The suspect A.S. was in a police vehicle, while forensic experts were examining every inch of the site in detail.

Telegraf.rs reporters are at the scene of an unprecedented drama, where the director of the Zoovita dog shelter, Dragan C. (53), was attacked and wounded by a firearm, this morning shortly before 10:00 hours.

Our team at the scene encountered numerous police patrols and forensic experts conducting a detailed investigation. The van used by the suspect A.S. (52) to drive to the scene of the crime was parked right in front of the entrance to the shelter.

Police inspectors and forensic experts are currently collecting evidence and fingerprints from the suspect's van, in order to gather all material related to this attack.

The attacker himself, A.S., was in a police car in front of the facility under heavy security from where we was taken in for questioninig.

Movie-like drama in front of witnesses

The shooting took place as A.S. walked into the shelter and fired a shot at its director, hitting him in the right leg. The victim then showed great presence of mind and managed to wrestle the gun away from the attacker. However, A.S. then grabbed an ax and threatened to injure shelter worker R.R. (64).

Thanks to the quick reaction of the police, the rampaging assailant was captured, while the victim of the shooting was taken to the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing, and Telegraf reporters continue to report from the scene.
