PM Macut and Minister Iipumbu discuss deepening cooperation between Serbia and Namibia

Prime Minister of Serbia Djuro Macut met today with visiting Namibian Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security Lucia Iipumbu, with whom he discussed the deepening of cooperation with that friendly country.

The prime minister's office said in a statement that Macut said Serbia is determined to further improve cooperation with Namibia, because that country is a great friend and important partner ever since the the period of the Non-Aligned Movement.

Macut stressed that Serbia is committed to developing cooperation with all African countries with which it has a traditional friendships, and is working to strengthen political, economic, educational, cultural and other ties.

The prime minister said he believes today's meeting, as well as yesterday's signing of a memorandum of understanding between the ministries of interior affairs of the two countries, will be a good basis for intensifying political dialogue and cooperation in other areas as well.

He added that Serbia highly values ​​Namibia's understanding and support in preserving Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the support in international organizations when it comes to Serbia's interests.

Macut emphasized that there is significant potential for improving economic cooperation, through further strengthening of trade, as well as cooperation in other areas such as agriculture and education, stating that Serbia is proud of the "World in Serbia" project, in which students from Namibia show great interest.

Minister Iipumbu is quoted as saying that Namibia wants to restore the ties established during the period of the Non-Aligned Movement and that the goal of the visit to Serbia is to fully strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
