Massive fire in Novi Sad! Thick smoke seen over the city, detonations heard, and there are injuries

A large-scale fire broke out in Novi Sad in the early hours of the morning, and according to initial information, two people have been injured.

Photos published on social networks show that the fire has flared up quite a bit.

Thick smoke can be seen over the city this morning. The fire broke out in a building of about 300 square meters.

As it turned out, this is the warehouse of a courier service located in the Industrial Zone.

Citizens are also reporting hearing small detonations.

It is suspected that at least two people were injured, having suffered burns. According to Dr. Zoran Krulj, spokesperson of the Institute for Emergency Medicine in Novi Sad, their team went to the scene as a first priority.

"A man (23) received minor burn injuries and is hemodynamically stable, while a woman (32) also received minor burn injuries and is hemodynamically stable," said Dr. Krulj.

A large number of fire crews from the Novi Sad fire brigade, voluntary firefighting societies, and the NIS company are on the ground.

Novi Sad officials also sent water trucks owned by public companies to help put out the blaze.

It is suspected that an external battery or some similar item that was among the packages at the werehouse might have exploded, but the exact cause will be known after the investigation has been completed, reports RINA.
