All seven EXPO halls will be completed ahead of schedule

Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali said on Thursday that all seven halls for the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2027 in Belgrade are expected to be completed before the scheduled deadline, so that all 140 participating countries will have enough time to prepare their pavilions.

"We will finish all seven halls before the deadline, because you have 140 participants who all need to work day and night on preparations when they enter their pavilions. You can't walk around the entire EXPO in one day," Mali told RTS.

According to him, during the 93 days of the exhibition, around 8,000 science, sports and culture events will be organized. The United States alone, he said, is planning about 800 events.

"Countries that host EXPOS change, their image, investments are made in infrastructure. Also, salary increases, standards of living - you invest one dinar, and you get at least 1.9," said the minister.

Mali added that EXPO will be accessible by different modes of transport.

"It's 20 minutes from the city, there will be a wharf on the river, a railway that directly connects EXPO with the airport. And other than the two interchanges from the highway, it will be possible to reach EXPO via the road from Block 45, which is under construction," Mali said.

Boban Velickovic from the Building Directorate of Serbia said that the work on the halls is in the final phase.

"The works are in the final stage, after which the exhibitors will enter the halls to prepare their pavilions. We have 26 buildings, seven of which are halls, there are warehouses, facilities for installations and the like. It's known where each country will be (represented). The biggest countries have the biggest pavilions and they will start preparations in November," said Velickovic.

The general director of the Directorate, Boris Bjelica, said that a total of 1,500 standard apartments will be built, with an average area of ​​about 54 square meters.

"500 will be fully equipped by September 1. Those apartments will also be used by those will work here during EXPO, so that there are no jams when coming and leaving work," said Bjelica.

About 5,000 people are currently directly engaged on construction works at the EXPO 2027 complex, and according to announcements, EXPO should be an incentive for a new investment cycle.
