Sarajevo bans Serbian PM Macut's plane from airspace, he travels to Banja Luka for Day of Serbian Unity by car

Prime Minister of Serbia Djuro Macut said on Monday that the fact that he was banned from flying over BiH (Bosnia and Herzegovina) will not prevent him from being in Banja Luka (in the RS, the Serb entity in BiH) and attending the celebration of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag the same evening.

"If I couldn't go by plane, I'm going by car. It's important to me to be with our people and to celebrate together, with dignity and in peace, the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag," said Macut in a written statement for Tanjug.

He assessed that in the 21st century in Europe, it is truly inappropriate to try to use administrative measures to prevent someone from traveling to celebrate a holiday that is not directed against anyone.

"It's moves like this that are pushing the whole region back, not holidays where we celebrate our unity, freedom, history and flag, while respecting everyone else and their right to keep their name, identity and traditions," said Macut.

He added that such decisions can only cause regret and that they speak about those who take them.

"We will not respond by raising tensions. Serbia will continue to extend a hand of cooperation and respect civilized standards of freedom of movement and good neighborly relations, to respect others, but also to preserve and respect what is its own," Macut pointed out.

The Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag was celebrated in Banja Luka last night.
