"Serbian Siberia" breaks records, tourists arriving from all over the world
The Pester Plateau and Sjenica have become one of the must-see tourist attractions in Serbia, and the number of tourists from the country, the region, and all over the world is increasing. This is evident in the data, as the municipality of Sjenica is recording a strong increase in tourist traffic in 2026.
"According to the data from the eTurista portal, as of October 1, 2026, 10,634 tourists used accommodation services in the territory of the municipality, which is a 42% increase compared to the same period last year. Tourists stay 2.1 nights on average, which confirms that Sjenica is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for vacation and stay," Sabahudin Abdagic, a tourist guide and one of the best promoters of the region, has told RINA.
He added that he is particularly pleased with the structure of the tourist traffic, where guests from abroad made up 53.7% of the total number of tourists, while the participation of domestic tourists was 46.3%. This means that the number of foreign tourists was 7.4% higher than the number of domestic tourists.
"This data confirms that Sjenica and Pester are becoming increasingly recognizable destinations, both on the domestic and international tourist markets. The growth in the number of guests, the average stay longer than two nights, and the growing interest of foreign tourists represent a strong incentive for the further development of tourism and the improvement of the tourist offer of this region," says Abdagic.
