Serbian students won the silver medal and five commendations at this prestige mathematics competition 'Romanian Masters of Mathematics' in Bucharest.

It  was Andjela Sarkovc from Nis, a 'Svetozar Markovic' high school student, who won the silver medal at this elite world high school competition. Serbian team was made of the students from Belgrade Mathematics high school Marijana Vujadinovic, Ognjen Tosic, Luka Vukelic, Nikola Aleksic and Ivan Pesic, who were commended.

- Andjela Sarkovic from Nis added new medal to an already existing collection made out of prestige Mathematics awards and once again proved that she belongs to to this elite. The rest of the students were commended and Ognjen Tosic and Ivan Pesic were 'this close to win the bronze'.

Most of the competitors from Serbia, as was reported, are not in their final years of studies so we can expect top level achievements from them in the area of mathematics.

This competition took place in Bucharest, from 25th of February to 2nd March and was conceptually designed by the International Mathematics Olympics. The focus was to make it an elite competition, only for the leading countries of a world class level, not to make it a mass one.

In order to participate in this event there had to be an invitation from the hosts which successfully organize 10-15 teams from all over the world for the seventh time.

All this made the questions considerably more difficult than the ones at the Olympics. According to many, this is why it is far more difficult to win a medal at this competition.

At this year's competition participated around 100 competitors from all around the world, including the countries that occupy the world's mathematics throne - China, Russia and USA. The captains of Serbian team were Bojan Basic from The University of Mathematics in Novi Sad and Milos Milosavljevic from 'Svetozar Markovic' high school in Nis.
