Construction of Port of Kostolac to begin this fall

Thermal Power Plants and Mines (TE-KO) Kostolac will start the construction of a port on the Danube by October, an investment worth EUR 13 million, announced TE-KO Kostolac and the Port Governance Agency after signing an agreement on port activities on Friday

The agreement grants a port activity license to Kostolac, 90 km east of Belgrade, and creates the conditions for the building of a port in this city which should begin in September or October at the latest, Acting Director of TE-KO Kostolac Goran Horvat said.

The plan is to turn the port later on into an international hub and open it to port operators other than Kostolac.

Construction of the Port of Kostolac is one of the five projects in the first phase of the project package deal with the Chinese partners, which is already being carried out.

Construction of three production halls starts in Smederevo

The value of the first two phases of the Kostolac project will total USD 1.2 billion, and the construction of a new thermal power block B3 is planned as part of the second phase.
