Briquette is Serbia's new treasure: Manufacturers can't produce enough for shipment, so they are working in three shifts!

The production has been increased and waiting lists are being made for briquettes delivery, price ranging from 170 to 210 euros for a ton

Because of the low temperatures, there is high consummation of fuel and demand for it, and the plants for production of briquettes in Nova Varos municipality are working around the clock. Everything made, under significantly higher prices than this summer, is immediately sold or transported to warehouses around Serbia.

Once waste and ecological problem, which ended up in rivers or besides the road - sawdust and wood pieces of bark, are now raw material which, when processed, gives extremely wanted fuel.

Although it is not accustomed for this time, the production has been increased and waiting lists are being made for briquettes delivery, price ranging from 170 to 210 euros for a ton.

- We did not expect it to be like this, this demand is not normal, we can't make as much as they are demanding. I think that around 500 have called me in January - said Stane Mandic from "Zlosnica".

Vladan Jovanic said that it is difficult working on - 25 degrees, but the demand is high, so we have to work.

Who thought in advance, has predicted this kind of interest. He has provided the materials and despite strong competition of almost 300 smaller or bigger sawmills in the area, now has certain production.

- We have the raw materials, one stock is here and the other one is on the way. Everything was secured in September so we don't have to go to the woods now under these conditions - said Dusko Mandic, the owner of "Zlosnica".

This plant hires around 20 employees and they are working around the clock because of the high interest for this ecological fuel, which enables complete and efficient usage of wood with modern production.

More than 1.000 tons of briquettes have been sold in the past month, in five smaller and larger plants on the Nova Varos territory, or twice as many than the last year at the same time.
