Serbian parliament speaker Maja Gojkovic leaves hospital

She will continue her recovery at home

National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic has left the hospital, where she was admitted after she was suddenly taken ill on Sunday, TV Prva reported.

The parliament speaker said she was feeling well, but would continue her recovery at home as per her doctors' recommendation.

If the situation stabilizes completely, it's not ruled out that she could return to her duties on Monday, TV Prva added.

She was hospitalized at the Clinical Center of Serbia on Monday after spending two days at the Emergency Center in Novi Sad.

Doctors then determined that the reason for her poor condition was high blood sugar, which led to her being sent to Belgrade for further clinical tests.

Although doctors have not yet ruled out type 2 diabetes, they noted that a sudden increase in blood sugar does not necessarily mean the presence of the disease. The causes for a rise in blood glucose, they explained, can be numerous, with stress as the most common trigger.
