All Serbian UN peacekeepers in Lebanon are well, says Defense Minister Vulin

After yesterday's armed incident and exchange of fire in a disputed border area between Lebanon, Syria and Israel, Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin had a telephone conversation with the senior national representative of the Serbian Army contingent in the UNIFIL multinational operation in Lebanon, Lieutenant Colonel Aleksandar Stanojevic.

On that occasion, Lieutenant Colonel Stanojevic informed the Minister of Defense that all members of the Serbian Army deployed in Lebanon are well and that no one was injured, that they are performing their regular tasks and that yesterday's event in the area of ​​Shebaa Farms had no impact on their daily activities and work. Serbian peacekeepers remain ready to selflessly engage in peacekeeping and peace-building in Operation UNIFIL and are recognized as such by the United Nations and partner countries.

The senior national representative also informed the Minister of Defense that preparations for the rotation of the Serbian Army contingent in this multinational operation are going according to plan and that the return of the current contingent to the country is expected in early August.

Members of the Serbian Army began participating in the multinational operation UNIFIL on December 21, 2010, and are deployed there along with soldiers from Spain and Italy.
