Dramatic video from Lucani: Man trapped in car swept by flash flood, this is what rescuing him looked like

A truck driver came to the aid of a man who tried to drive his car through high water, more than a meter deep

Heavy rains have again caused disaster in the territory of the municipality of Lucani.

The large inflow of water caused torrential streams to flood and completely cut off most roads.

The water carried everything with it, and a passenger car with a driver inside was among those things. The man was rescued only thanks to the quick reaction of the locals.

"I was the first to pass in a truck, and the driver of a passenger car followed me through the torrent of water over one and a half meters deep. However, the water trapped him and made it impossible for him to pass, it cut off his path. We immediately stopped and managed to rescue the driver, alive and well, now we have to recover the vehicle," Veljko Milosavljevic told the RINA agency.

There was no sleep last night for the 13-member Milosavljevic family. The water level of the Western (Zapadna) Morava, which flows through the village of Dljin, was rising hour by hour and there were fears of new flooding, although the damage from the previous, recent storm has not yet been repaired.

"Our five children cannot go to school tomorrow (Wednesday) because there is no road. A few days ago, water flooded our barns. Now we managed to get all the cattle to a safe place and save each of them. Our farming plots were flooded and what we sowed has gone to waste. We are waiting for the weather to stabilize, to sum up the damage and to sow the vegetables again," says Miro Milosavljevic.

He adds that due to strong torrential streams, all the roads leading to their household were destroyed by the rush of water, and they are now cut off from the world.

The large quantity of precipitation in the municipality of Gornji Milanovac resulted in the the main streets submerged in water, causing traffic to slow down.
