A member of the Presidency of the Serb List, Igor Simic, says that this party will appeal against the decision of the Assembly in Pristina to elect Nenad Rasic as vice-president from the ranks of the deputies representing the Serb community.

Addressing the media, Simic pointed out that this is a violation of the rights of the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija.

"You must know that what was done is against (Pristina's) constitution and the verdict of the Constitutional Court, therefore all those who voted and supported Rasic violated the constitution and have no right to speak about the rule of law," said Simic.

Nenad Rasic, the president of the Freedom, Justice and Survival Party, was elected as vice-president of the assembly in Pristina today, although his party won only one seat in the parliament of the provisional institutions, while nine of the 10 seats guaranteed to the Serb community are held by the Serb List.

Rasic was elected because previously none of the nine candidates proposed by the Serb List received the required number of votes, even though the party, given that it has nine out of 10 seats, has the right to a vice-president from its ranks.
