The leader of the SNS and adviser to the president Milos Vucevic said on Sunday that he thinks the "blockaders" (anti-government protesters) feel "an incredible need" to destroy an agreement with Trump regarding the General Staff building in Belgrade.

"I think there is political abuse of a topic that should be favorable to Serbia. Imagine if cities in Serbia were not rebuilt after the Second World War. How hypocritical is that. At the time we celebrated when we rebuilt cities after a difficult period. Today, the ruin (of the General staff building, bombed by NATO in 1999) is supposed to be a symbol of victory. They are trying to spoil the chance for Serbia to have better relations with the US administration. It's a good thing we have a deal with Trump. It's a good sign that we are moving closer on economic issues. This is not about selling out and colonization. Like when they sold Marshalat (building) for chump change," Vucevic told Pink TV, and added:

"They (previous authorities in Serbia) decided to sell NIS below price. Today, they are disputing something (the General Staff building) that has no such connotation. They are ruining our economic agreement, which should open a political perspective. It's a good sign that we can talk to the Trump administration. In the 19th and 20th centuries, there were concessions toward large states, it is part of networking and cooperation. This need of the blockaders to spoil any chance to represent our interests in Washington is incredible. They insult people who will say good or bad about us, meanwhile Albanians are engaged in promoting Albanian (interests)."

The same people who think that the issue of the General Staff building should not be resolved, says Vucevic, devastated the Serbian Army as unnecessary and a waste.

"I hope we will create better relations with the Trump administration. We need to attract investments and be politically positioned where key decisions are made. Everything is public and transparent. For the first time, we will have a national complex dedicated to the victims of the NATO aggression. They (former authorities) destroyed hundreds and thousands of factories. They proceed from their point of view, how they would be making these deals now. If they came to power, they would give it away for free, just to engratiate themselves. We have to take advantage of Trump's term in office because he is a man who decided to make major geopolitical decisions," said Vucevic.
