Wadephul: Serbia and Germany are connected, Serbia is part of European family
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said today after a meeting with the minister of foreign affairs of Serbia, Marko Djuric, that Belgrade and Berlin are connected and that Serbia is part of the European family.
"Germany and Serbia have long been closely linked both economically and through numerous personal contacts. Many German companies successfully operate in Serbia, Germany is the most important trade partner of Serbia. A large number of people originally from Serbia have found their home in Germany. These ties have priceless value. Serbia is part of our European family and should have the opportunity to participate in the community of EU values," said Wadephul.
Wadephul expressed his gratitude for the hospitality and assessed that they had interesting and constructive conversations.
The German foreign minister started his visit to the Western Balkans on Sunday, and according to an earlier statement issued by the German Embassy in Serbia, will be in Tuesday in Belgrade.
Wadephul arrived in Belgrade on Monday and then met with President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic.
The focus of the visit, as stated by the German Embassy in Serbia, is "progress and challenges in the EU enlargement process, where Germany confirms its role as a country that closely monitors the region on its way to the European Union, including through the Berlin Process."
