Telegraf is at the scene of horror: A MUP bomb squad has also arrived in Velika Mostanica, a suburban neighborhood of Belgrade.

Frightened locals claim: "Nebojsa loved weapons and bombs, we're afraid that he was trying something!"

The first version was that the water heater exploded.

Staniceva Street in Belgrade is still full of police this morning after an explosion in which afamily's house was damaged. Nebojsa K. (48) died during the incident. It took three hours for rescuers to pull his body out of the rubble, while his partner Dragana F. (50) survived by sheer luck.

Telegraf.rs portal reporters were at the scene where a large number of police officers have been present since early morning, and a specialized team from the Ministry of Interior arrived and was searching the debris in detail with detectors and other equipment.

Scale models of mines and grenades

As we have exclusively learned, during the investigation so far the inspectors found plastic models of hand grenades and mortar mines in the demolished house. The victim, Nebojsa K., was previously known to the police and had been arrested for crimes related to explosive devices.

The frightened neighbors in Staniceva Street, who are watching the police work, speak about the victim.

"Nebojsa was known for his love of weapons and bombs. Everyone in the street knew about his passion. Now we fear that he made something himself or tried it out in the house and that everything went up in the air," visibly upset neighbors told Telegraf.rs.

Initially water heater was suspected

Although initial information that appeared in the public indicated that the collapse of the building was caused by the explosion of a water heater, the enormous destructive power of the detonation and the objects found shed a completely new light on this case.

Dragana F., who was injured and was the first to be pulled out, said that she did not know exactly happened.

"I was in one room, Nebojsa was in another. Suddenly, there was a horrific sound and everything collapsed on us," she said.

Neighbors add that immediately after, a strong and pungent smell of gunpowder spread through the street.

The prosecutor's office has been informed about the case, and the police continue to search the scene in order to officially determine the exact cause of this explosion.

The investigation is ongoing.
