Education workers, members of the two education syndicates protested in front of the Ministry of Education. They are discontent with the current financial and general state of the education in Serbia. Several people even attacked the Minister Srdjan Verbic!
The protest walk started in front of the Parliament building , and the workers briefly stopped next to the Government building. The Nemanjina street is currently closed for traffic as well as Kneza Milosa street.
When the Minister of education Srdjan Verbic approached the protesters near the Manjez park, angry workers started to splash him with water and push him around. He walked through the mass of discontent protesters and told them that he won't be addressing them from the improvised stands in the park, but then invited the syndicates's representatives to come to the Ministry.
Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic commented on the strike too saying that the teachers and professors were indeed the damaged part of the public sector but that it will be the first one to be improved upon the rebirth of Serbia's finance.
- I feel for them, they are right, but what do they expect us to do? To end the arrangement with IMF? - said Vucic to the media in Obrenovac.
