Selector Marina Maljkovic has subsequently invited Sonja Petrovic (26, 189) to join the preparations. Eurobasket will be held from June 11-28 in Hungary and Romania, where Serbia will compete in Group C with Croatia, Latvia, Russia and Great Britain.

- At the beginning of preparation I emphasized and insisted that I will do whatever it takes to enable Serbia to go to the Olympics. To accomplish this goal we have to count on all available power. This will be one of the strongest continental championships in the last decade and that's why we have to be in the strongest possible composition.
- I believe that the presence of Sonja's positive impact on our team and will bring additional quality. There is not much time to the beginning, so we have to give our best in order to be prepared for the match against Latvia on June 11 - stressed selector Marina Maljkovic.
In her career, Sonja Petrovic has performed in Red Star, Barcelona, Burz, Chicago and Spartak Moscow, and has won three Euroleagues and was the best young basketball player in the choice of FIBA 2007.
- I am overjoyed to be back on the national team. The dream of every player is to represent their country, and my excitement could not be greater, especially because Serbia will fight to qualify for the Olympic Games. I'll try to get the hang of things as soon as possible. I know most of the players, because we've played together either on the national team or in clubs. - says Sonja Petrovic.
