- This behavior is rude, to say the least and absolutely not expected from academics such as doctors - said one of the artists, adding that doctors went for barbecue at a nearby restaurant

An unseen scandal occurred last week in Belgrade when celebrating 90 years since the establishment of the Institute for Neonatology.

For that purpose, the Institute redeemed the performance of "Giselle" from the National Theater. After the first act, writes Belgrade media, almost all the doctors left the show and went to a tavern, leaving artists in shock. For this cultural event, between 100,000 and 200,000 dinars was allocated.

Artists, more than 30 ballet dancers and members of the Opera, were in utter disbelief and have been talking about the incident for days.

- It is a scandal without precedent. A break ensues only when a dancer is injured. This behavior is rude, to say the least and absolutely not expected from academic citizens such as doctors - said one of the artists, adding that the doctors went for barbecue at a nearby restaurant.

On the other hand, Dejan Savic, head of the National Theater confirmed that the play was interrupted after the first act, but it was done without anger.

- The main reason for the interruption was because  only 50 showed up compared to the 400 expected. There was a possibility of their squander, so we spontaneously agreed that after the first act, they no longer take the stage. They were not revolted. Better that than to run the risk of injury due to the small number of people - he said and pointed out that the organizer could have chosen a shorter play.
