Based on photos published by the Belgrade news Blic, the daily News Avaz reported readers calling in who claimed to know the person in the photographs, stating that this was not in fact Asim S., writes Blic, but Almir Merdić from Jelah near Tesanj.

Readers sent Avaz pictures of Merdic from Potocari that he and his friends posted on their Facebook page.
In Jelah, as conveyed by the daily, it is known that Merdić and his team are very close to some influential people in the United States.

Merdić, according to Avaz is the son-in-law of Ramiz Hodzic Shiki, who in February of this year was arrested in the United States under the indictment for aiding a terrorist organization of the Islamic state.
He was a member of the "El Mujahed", and US authorities say that he sent money and equipment for months to members of the Islamic state.
