A Serbian citizen who was staying in Wuhan arrived in Belgrade last night where he underwent medical checks. He feels well and doesn't have symptoms of coronavirus, Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said.

This person is one of five Serbians living in Wuhan, Dacic said, adding that one of the remaining four did not want to leave China, while three are awaiting evacuation from the city, which may be done with the help of France.

Dacic said that the Serbian citizen who returned from Wuhan left that city before it was quarantined off, going to other parts of the province, then to Shanghai, and from there reached Belgrade via Moscow.

"We paid for his ticket, with the help of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs he came back via Moscow last night. Everything is fine for now, he has passed checks, he doesn't have fever or other symptoms, we'll see how the situation develops," said Dacic.

The minister said that it is not easy to evacuate people from Wuhan and that our remaining citizens there are unable to go to Shanghai or some other city on their own, but also stressed that there must be good health care in those countries to which people are returning from Wuhan.

Dacic said that there is no need to spread panic and unrealistic expectations that all our citizens living in China will be evacuated, since closed zones have not been declared in other cities and transportation is functioning.

"If someone has a problem to pay the ticket, we can help, but it's impossible to be evacuateing people from an open city, evacuation is done from areas affected by illness, war," said Dacic.
