Italija se bori sa širenjem prve velike epidemije korona virusa usled porasti infekcija u Evropi. To je uzrokovalo otkazivanje popularnog venecijanskog karnevala, prekid fudbalskih igara u višoj ligi u pogođenom području i zatvaranja bioskopa, uključujući i legendarnu milansku La Scalu. Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic announced today that the country's first coronavirus case has been confirmed. It is a younger man and the illness is taking a mild form.

He is treated at the Fran Mihaljevic Clinic for Infectious Diseases in Zagreb.

According to Plenkovic, the patient is placed in isolation and his condition is good, Index is reporting.

"We received the test result today at 11.30 for a Croatian citizen who was in Milan between February 19 and 21," said the Croatian prime minister.

He stressed that the authorities would concentrate on people with whom the infected man had been in contact.

"Considering the developments in Italy, we will ensure that all relevant services are on standby and active in preventing any further spread of this virus," Plenkovic added in his address to the press.

Previously, nine workers who came from Italy were sent to the Rijeka clinical and hospital center overnight. Their samples were sent for tests, with one showing signs of illness.
