The police in the city of Nis have arrested a mother, her two underage daughters and her daughter-in-law from Stara Pazova, who burgled four apartments in Nis in early August and stole 9 million dinars and a large quantity of jewelry. They tried to burgle three more apartments but were noticed, so they gave up on the idea. However, it is assumed that this is not the final balance of their theft campaign, because it's suspected that they are serial thieves who stole all over Serbia.

According to the Nis Police Administration, A.DJ. (23), D.J. (35) and minors aged 14 and 15 have been arrested for four aggravated thefts and three more attempts to commit the same crime.

They had a well worked-out scheme and believed that it would be difficult to track them down because they arrived in Nis from Stara Pazova, but thanks to intensive operational work, the Nis police managed to identify and arrest them.

"D.J. is the mother of the girls, while A.DJ. is the common law wife of her son. As has been was determined, they came to Niska Banja from Stara Pazova, where they rented an apartment and went on their thieving expeditions. D.J. was the organizer, she drove them to the site, while the daughter-in-law and her daughters would break into the apartments after forcing the locks open. They operated in the center of the city, in the area of Kralja Aleksandra Square, Pavla Stojkovica Square, Sindjelica Square and in Milojka Lesjanina Street. After committing the (last) robbery, they left in two taxis and lay low in the village of Trgoviste near Knjazevac, where the police found them," said our sources familiar with this case.

The Belgrade police also got involved in shedding light on this case, finding only a portion of the loot - four watches and a larger quantity of gold - in a house in Stara Pazova where they were staying unregistered, while the cash has not been found.

D.J.'s husband was in the house with a small quantity of marijuana, so criminal charges will be filed against him for unauthorized possession of narcotics.

"A.DJ., D.J. and M.N. have been detained for up to 48 hours, after which they will be brought before the competent prosecutor along with criminal complaints. The minors have been taken to the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Nis, on whose proposal the previous procedure judge of the Higher Court ordered them detained for up to 30 days," the police stated.
