An inspector with the Novi Sad Police Administration was wounded today in Novi Sad, the NS Uzivo portal has learned.

The 33-year-old inspector from the major crimes department was shot at from a firearm. He was transported to the Clinical Center of Vojvodina in serious condition.

According a spokesperson for the emergency service, the man suffered multiple seemingly severe bodily injuries.

One attacker has been arrested, while a manhunt was under way for other attackers, this local media unofficially learned on Wednesday afternoon.

According to initial information, the assailants tried to hijack the policeman's car.

Photographs from the scene show traces of blood left after the shooting that took place in broad daylight in Save Djisalova Street in the Podbara neighborhood.

As the media have unofficially found out, M.S. (62) is among the suspects, while the inspector has been shot several times.
