Since the testing of the vaccine against Covid-19 started, there has been talk about vaccination itself: whether it should be mandatory or not, how it will take place, how many doses are needed, which vaccine to receive.

Opinions are still divided, so much so that anti-vaccine movements have emerged in some countries, while in others there is a shortage of doses, so the vaccination is taking place more slowly.

All in all, what particularly interests workers is whether their bosses will threaten to sack them - if they don’t want to be vaccinated. Namely, the government of Latvia has made a decision to make vaccination against coronavirus mandatory for employees in health, education and social services.

Also, members of the government agreed that in other sectors, after October 1, employers can sack workers who have not been vaccinated. But that decision will take effect only after it has been adopted by the parliament.

A Telegraf Biznes poll asked our readers what they thought of this, and here is how they voted:

Do you support the idea that a boss should be able to fire an unvaccinated worker? To this question, 26.33% said they absolutely do, while as many as 67.70% said that this is clearly discriminatory.

Only 5.97 percent do not have a clear position on the topic, more precisely, they chose the answer, "I am not sure, it depends on the sector in which the worker is employed."

Regarding mandatory vaccination in Serbia, President Aleksandar Vucic said that "our country cannot introduce that norm, because it is not in accordance with the Constitution."
