Kon ahead of Crisis HQ: It's not that I have something against unvaccinated, I only think about them

The state Crisis HQ for the fight against coronavirus will sit today in Serbia, but it is unlikely that the existing measures will be made stricter, while France is one of the European countries that are introducing new restrictions due to the rapid growth in the number of new cases.

"I expect that it will be clearly communicated to the people and all members of the Crisis HQ, what the situation is, what the threat is and whether we are really prepared for all the information coming from the abroad. It is coming from abroad that the Omicron variant has so far shown the greatest ability to transmit and the greatest dominance in a very short time. The fact is that it covered America in just two weeks. It accelerated transmission in the UK four times, which was also seen in the numbers of 122,000 per day. We have imported the case and we have no evidence of transmission among our population, but it is inevitable," Dr. Predrag Kon told Kurir Television.

Starting on January 3, remote work will be obligatory in France for all those whose job allows it, while public gatherings will be limited to 2,000 people for indoor events.

"In the last three days, we have had a very clear increase in numbers. That will speed up. We cannot expect to be different from other countries, it is only a matter of time before that intensity of the activity increases," said Kon.

From now on, according to him, there are no clear indicators in which direction the numbers of infected people will move.

"For now, we don't have any reliable indicators that what Sekler said won't happen, that the number of new cases will be over 5,000. What must be understood is that now this will not stop only with vaccination, but also with respect of the prescribed measures and with timely measures. It is true that it is threatening us. Young people won't think. It reminds me of the 90's, when young people were saying, it can't go on like this anymore, even if they died. It's a moment of despair, which occurs in the moments of struggle," said the epidemiologist.

According to official data from Monday, December 27, coronavirus took another 27 lives in Serbia, while there were another 1,249 new cases within 24 hours.

The session of the Crisis HQ will be held today.

"The request is difficult to make. Because of the whole situation. I'm not talking about the arguments of others. I'm talking about the arguments from a medical point of view. Covid passes are made to protect those who are the most bitter. It's not that I have anything against the unvaccinated, I think only about them and look for ways to approach them. I am doing everything to explain to people that this is no attack on their freedoms. This is an attempt to protect their health," says Kon.
