President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said yesterday that he would never support a ban on abortion, because he believes that abortion is a woman's right.

Vucic in this way replied when a journalist asked him to comment on a statement made by his SNS party official Vladimir Djukanovic, who said he supports the decision of the court in the US to ban abortion.

Vucic added that he understands the need of certain politicians, including from the SNS, and of media outlets to take position on all sorts of issues, and of media outlets to, knowing that this is not the position of the party, keep looking for something to criticize him for.

"I would never support something like that, because I believe that abortion is a woman's right. Whether I like it or not is another thing. We have rules and laws that are clear. We have laws and we have not planned to change them on any issue," he said.
