As announced, the first gas stations got closed in Croatia today, Armando Miljavac, who shut his down, revealed for HRT.

"We had to... It's a demonstrative shutting down so that people understand that it's not a whim, we're in big trouble. So that it's not said we just talk, we wanted to take steps that are inevitable in this situation," he said.

He added that according to what he knows, five or six more has stations were closed today, due to the lack and unavailability of fuel, the Seebiz portal reports.

"There are  insufficient quantities of fuel on the market, we haven't had enough until now either. As a company, we received 50 percent of the required quantities. We are afraid that this will not end well and that there will be disruptions on the market," stressed Miljavac.

He said that despite the government fixing the fuel prices, he still does business at a significant loss.

"Our problem is that we've been making that (losses) for nine months. We've been working with margins that aren't enough to cover costs, and now we don't even have money. We simply have nowhere to go," he concluded.

Miljavac said yesterday that he expects around 240 gas stations in Croatia to shut down, according to Seebiz.
