Members of the Ministry of the Interior, the Border Police Administration and the Gendarmerie found two improvised camps in the vicinity of Subotica, where dozens of migrants from India and Pakistan, as well as 10 Syrians, were staying. They have all been sent to a reception center.

Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) continuously control the movements and stay of illegal migrants in the border area between Serbia and Hungary, with the aim of finding smugglers and weapons, in order to preserve the safety and security of all citizens of Serbia, as well as of migrants.

The office of the mayor of Subotica told Telegraf.rs that there were "no protests in Subotica, except for the gathering of citizens in the local community Makova Sedmica, where on the same day they were assured of the effectiveness of the police work."

"The police also patrolled the forest belt along the border, where all the previous points for migrant gatherings were broken up. The MUP is constantly active in the field. The Gendarmerie is also present and on alert, and on Thursday morning they carried out a major operation. The situation is calm now. The city of Subotica makes its contribution. We finance the transport of migrants to reception centers in the south of the country, we communicate with state authorities and coordinate the work of communal services in connection with this issue," they said from the cabinet.

As they added, the problem with migrants has existed since 2015 and is a global issue, and in that sense cannot be "solved" by returning things to how they were before the start of those mass migrations.

"What we can do is to manage those processes in a quality way, to protect our citizens and ensure compliance with the law. Citizens have no reason to fear or worry. The only caution required is to immediately report any problems related to migrants to the police and not to take any action on your own. Real incidents, in which residents of Subotica suffered damage, from 2015 to this day, have not been so numerous. Of course, they have happened and they were all solved by the police. The task of the Ministry of Interior, the City and the Commissariat for Refugees is to reduce violence to zero, and we work on that every day," they explained.
