Starting on September 1, the price of electricity for households and small customers will be 6.5 percent higher in Serbia, the Energy Agency has approved.

The average price per kilowatt hour will be 8,144 dinars higher than currently.

"At the request of the Public Enterprise EPS Belgrade, the Council of the Energy Agency at today's session agreed to the decision about the price of electricity for guaranteed supplies," the Agency's statement reads.

The average price of electricity for customers who have the right to guaranteed supply at regulated prices - households and small customers, is determined based on the maximum approved income and the estimated amount of electricity for sale to customers on guaranteed supply.

That price, minus taxes and fees, will amount to 8,144 dinars per kilowatt hour and is higher than the existing average price by 6.5 percent.

The new price for guaranteed supply will be applied from September 1, according to the Energy Agency statement.
