Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Serbia Aleksandr Bocan Kharchenko said on Wednesday that Russia does not have any demands regarding the opening of a military base in Serbia, nor has the Serbian side asked for that.

"I never said that such a proposal from Russia exists, nor did I say what some media write. I was asked whether there is such a possibility and said that we have not received any offer from Serbia, nor are we looking for anything like that," Botsan Kharchenko said in response to a journalist after the opening of the EXPO Russia-Serbia 2022 business forum in Belgrade.

The ambassador stressed that President Aleksandar Vucic also made a very clear statement on this issue a few days ago.

According to some media reports, a Russian military base could be formed in Serbia, for the purpose of performing various reconnaissance tasks.
