Brnabic: EuroPride showed that Serbia is a serious country

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said today that the recently held EuroPride showed that Serbia is a serious country, which first and foremost respects all its citizens, the Constitution and laws.

"Everything we told our citizens, we fulfilled. All those who created provocations will be held accountable, as well as those who tried to break through the police cordon and get to the participants of the second event, in order to clash with them," Brnabic told TV Pink.

She said that it is encouraging that the participants in EuroPride condemned all those provocations.

"I think this is something that has happened for the first time and it encourages me, because it seems to me that what has come out from this whole debate is that decent people can hold different views," said Brnabic.

The prime minister said that everyone has the right to walk, but, she stressed, some things are inadmissible and do not promote human rights, and as such must be condemned and sanctioned. Brnabic said that we should talk more and more about a decent and normal Serbia and that last Saturday was extremely demanding for the country.

She said that some people tried to "score some political points" and attack the state, "because someone went from the Constitutional Court to Tasmajdan for a concert."

"Those who used to be in power could not, did not want to ensure equal rights for everyone, but when we did, they were the first to show up there and take pictures and say, equal rights for everyone. Fine, but why didn't you do that when you were in power," said Brnabic.

The prime minister denied that the state, as claimed by the Dveri Movement, had allocated 40 million euros for EuroPride.

"The state did not allocate a single dinar, I don't know why they said that, there were certain foreign sponsors, but I don't think there is any money there," said Brnabic and added that she does not have a single bad word for organizers, who according to her did their best to find a compromise.

Brnabic also said that she can no longer be surprised by anything the opposition says or does, and that they "showed the first day after the election that there are no key essential differences between them."

"For them the only policy is, 'Boo, Vucic!' We saw during the session in the Assembly that they are only against the policies of Aleksandar Vucic, but for all of them Vucic is the supreme authority and that's how it should be," said Brnabic.
