The Specialist Prosecutor's Office has submitted to the court a confirmed and amended indictment against former KLA ("Kosovo Liberation Army") leaders Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi, charging them with war crimes and crimes against humanity, it has been announced on the website of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers ("special court for KLA crimes").

According to the order of the judge for preliminary proceedings dated July 22 and September 29, the prosecution supplemented the indictment with the locations and names of the victims, and increased the number of cited murder victims, Sputnik reported.

On September 29, the judge for preliminary proceedings also ordered that one of the events in Urosevac be withdrawn from the indictment.

The amended indictment consists of ten counts charging the accused of carrying out persecution, illegal arrest and detention, cruel treatment, torture, murder and disappearance of persons, it was announced on the website.

The defendants are accused of depriving people of their freedom and illegally detaining them in Kosovo and in northern Albania from March 1999 to September 1999, and doing this together with other members of the KLA.

While detained in this way without any legal basis, the victims were tied, locked up, subjected to inhuman acts, cruel treatment and torture, and they were not even told why they were being held captive.

According to the indictment, the defendants are accused of having caused the death of people in Kosovo and Metohija and in northern Albania through their acts and omissions, including at the time after the arrests or kidnappings and in the places of detention.

The amended indictment charges the accused with 102 murders, and they are also charged with the disappearance of 20 persons.

According to the indictment, they held detainees in 17 locations in Kosovo and Metohija, and in northern Albania.
