Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic cautioned Serbians today to avoid traveling to Turkey in the coming weeks, especially to the capital of this country - Ankara, due to possible terrorist attacks.

"I want to warn the citizens that according to information from security services, terrorist attacks can be expected in the next few weeks, and in this case, this information refers to the capital of Turkey, Ankara," Dacic said in a statement to Tanjug.

He added that one should bear in mind that this can also apply to other parts of Turkey and asked the citizens of Serbia to avoid traveling to that country unless they have urgent business there in the coming weeks.

"If our citizens are already there, they should avoid places with a lot of people in public spaces, such as pedestrian zones, the metro, bus and train stations and other similar places. I am saying this solely for reasons of safety, because we have an obligation to, like other countries, warn our citizens in order to avoid a terrorist attack happening without us first sharing this information with the citizens," said Dacic.

He added that Serbia and Turkey have good relations, that they are developing cooperation at all levels.

"However, even if Turkey is a friendly country to us, I have to share with the citizens this information we received from security services. So, the advice is to avoid traveling to Ankara in the next few weeks, and if they travel to some other cities or are there, citizens should avoid places where terrorist attacks are possible," said Dacic.
