President Aleksandar Vucic said today after a meeting at the the Guard House of the Serbian Army in Topcider, Belgrade where he was presented with the results of the analysis of the state, operational and functional capabilities of the Army for 2022, that in the coming period the Army will focus more on unmanned aerial vehicles and drones manufactured domestically, as well as that additional work will be done on strengthening our special units.

"On Statehood Day, I will issue an order as the commander-in-chief, and then the chief of the General Staff will call on young men and women to apply to join special units, up to 5,000 people," said Vucic.

He stressed that the goal is to further strengthen our prominent special units.

"We reviewed information about operational and functional capabilities of the Serbian Army and looked at all the shortcomings and everything about additionally equipping and arming, and plans both for the previous and for this year.

We must make decisions geared much more toward getting new tools from the defense industry of Serbia, just as we delivered Pasars, Milos's, small Lazars and Gvozdikas and others, so we will also focus on unmanned aerial vehicles and drones, primarily from domestic production, and focus and invest a lot in the further growth of the standard of living of members of the Army," said Vucic.

He said that for the first time in many decades, Serbia had a greater number of recruits than those who left the Army in the last two years.

Vucic added that members of the Army can expect a 25 percent salary increase this year.
