Scandal in Croatia: Argument over Ustasha salute in parliament

The government's proposal to amend the Law on Offenses against Public Order and Peace caused a heated debate in the Croatian Parliament today.

MPs in the parliament are discussing the government's proposal to amend the Law on Offenses against Public Order and Peace, which has caused a lot of public attention, reports Vecernji List.

"You are introducing draconian penalties, you are introducing 'verbal delict'," said MP Miro Bulj.

"Colleague Bulj, you can't talk about the content now, what is wrong with the procedure," Speaker Jadronkovic asked him.

"What's wrong is that you are introducing 'verbal delict' in order to judge, among other things, what fake news is and how you would punish HOS (Croatian Defense Forces from the 1990s) members for their greeting, 'For home ready'," said Bulj and received the first warning.

Bulj continued speaking, and Jadronkovic gave him another warning.

"For home ready" was the salute of the fascist WW2-era Independent State of Croatia (NDH) and its Ustasha regime.
