The MUP (Serbian Interior Ministry) has confirmed that its officers have arrested a minor who was shooting this morning at the Vladislav Ribnikar Elementary School in Belgrade's Vracar Municipality.

They confirmed that there are casualties - dead and wounded - and that the police received a report about the shooting at 08:40 this morning.

"The police dispatched all available patrols, who immediately went to the scene and arrested the suspected minor, a 7th grade student, who, as suspected, fired several shots from his father's pistol in the direction of the students and the security in this school," the MUP said and add that the treatment of those wounded in the incident is ongoing, as is the work of the police to establish all the facts and circumstances related to the event.

The boy (14) killed a security guard, while several students got injured, Telegraf.rs learned initially.

Later in the morning, the news arrived that eight students had died.

According to earlier reports, the incident lasted about five minutes.
