A multi-month joint international operation dubbed "Belvedere," carried out by members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, the Service for Combating Organized Crime of the Criminal Police Administration, in cooperation with the Public Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime in Belgrade and the police of the Republic of Austria, the Republic of Slovenia and the Czech Republic, resulted in the confiscation of a considerable amount of drugs.

At the same time, members of an organized criminal group suspected of smuggling narcotics in the territory of our country, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Austria and other European Union countries, have been arrested.

Nine members of this organized criminal group were arrested by the Serbian Interior Ministry (MUP), while V.S. (53), who is suspected of being the leader of the organized criminal group, was arrested yesterday in the Czech Republic based on an Interpol notice issued by Serbia.

Also, in January of this year in Bosnia and Herzegovina, M.T. (34), who is suspected of being one of the members of this group, was arrested.

The Serbian police, on suspicion that they committed criminal acts of association for the purpose of committing criminal acts and unauthorized production and distribution of narcotic drugs, arrested I.S. (39), P.D. (27), M.P. (47), S.D. (58), A.G. (46), M.M. (32), S.J. (45), Z.H. (31) and M.I. (32).

By searching apartments and other facilities used by the suspects in 15 locations in Belgrade, Sremska Mitrovica, Novi Sad, Leskovac and Nis, the police seized about 168 kilograms of amphetamines, five kilograms of marijuana, about 10,000 MDMA tablets, three liters of amphetamine oil and five liters of battery acid used to produce amphetamines, as well as two pistols and around 60,000 euros.

Those arrested in the territory of Serbia have been brought, along with criminal complaints, before the competent prosecutor's office and have since been remanded in custody for one month.
